Emerging Fashion Designers

Amongst the huge fashion powerhouses, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and C. Herrera, it is easy to forget that each major fashion capital yields a new crop of hopefuls with a vision that come with some major underground buzz. The new talent are so gifted that, we could place our confidence in their success. These are my picks, (in no particular order) for the four new designers that should be on everyone’s must-watch roster in the upcoming seasons.

Shenaz Engineer, Austraila–A student, attending Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane Austrailia, has brought the world ” A Kaleidoscope Perspective” collection and has executed that intrpretation brilliantly. This newbie’s structual geometric pieces, that are intentionally designed to create an fashion illusion, demand attention.

Tze Goh–London, England–Although designer Tze Goh was born and raised in Singapore, he went on a global sojourn to study in Paris and New York at Parsons the New School for Design and at London’s Central Saint Martins MA fashion program. Now London based, Goh filters his international experience into a singular design aesthetic that’s strikingly minimal and serenely sensual. But behind this purity, hides a deceptively complex work of innovative materials, impeccable construction and sculptural functionality.

Roxanna Zamani(add her)–New Zealand–From New Zealand to Australia to Italy – designer Roxanna Zamani is making an impression amongst some of the world’s most renowned fashion aficionados. Since graduating from the School of Design in 2009 her collection ‘Incongruous’ has showcased on a number of international stages and interest continues to mount.

Lucas Nascimento–Brazilian-born, London-based knitwear supremo  trained with the likes of Giles Deacon and Jonathan Saunders before launching his own line at Fashion Rio Autumn/Winter 2010, to critical acclaim. “Lucas is the most promising new star, but shows the maturity of a veteran,” said Rosane Ribeiro, Vogue Brasil’s fashion correspondent. “His sophisticated and intricate work is young, sensual, sculptural yet extremely chic. His catwalk show could be placed anywhere in the world.” Nuff Said…..
